On either view, he does not postpone wiping his palms until after wiping his face. Rather, he wipes them either before his face or while wiping his face and the backs of his hands. Hence Ibn ʿAqīl said:
“I find that tayammum with a single strike dispenses with an order required in ablution: the face is wiped after the inner surfaces of the hands.”
Both Sahīh collections record the hadith of ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir, transmitted through Abū Mūsā—may Allah be pleased with them both:
“‘It is enough for you to do this with your hands.’ Then he struck the ground once with his hands, then passed his left hand over his right and wiped the backs of his hands and his face.”
Al-Bukhārī’s wording is:
“He struck the ground once with his palms, then shook them off. Then, using his hands, he wiped the back of his hand with his left—or the back of his left hand with his palm—then wiped his face with both hands.”
This explicitly shows that he did not wipe his palms after his face. There is no disagreement within Ahmad’s school that this is not obligatory.

That narration also says: “Then he passed his left hand over his right and wiped the backs of his hands before his face.”
Abū Muhammad said: “The obligation to wipe the palms is discharged by passing each one over the back of
