Chapter: Tayammum (Dry Ablution)

Shaykh al-Islām Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah—may Allah have mercy on him—said:

All praise is due to Allah. We seek His help and forgiveness, and we seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none can lead astray; and whoever He leads astray, none can guide. We bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Allah Most High said:

“O you who believe, when you rise to pray, wash your faces and your arms up to the elbows, wipe your heads, and wash your feet up to the ankles. If you are in a state of major ritual impurity, purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey, or one of you has relieved himself, or you have touched women, and you find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to impose hardship upon you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you, so that you may be grateful.”

بَابٌ التَّيَمُّمُ قَالَ شَيْخُ الْإِسْلَامِ أَحْمَد ابْنُ تَيْمِيَّة - رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ -: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ نَسْتَعِينُهُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُهُ وَنَعُوذُ بِاَللَّهِ مِنْ شُرُورِ أَنْفُسِنَا وَمِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ أَعْمَالِنَا مَنْ يَهْدِهِ اللَّهُ فَلَا مُضِلَّ لَهُ؛ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَنَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلِيمًا. قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إذَا قُمْتُمْ إلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَاغْسِلُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُؤُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوا وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضَى أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاءَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَاءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَاءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُمْ مِنْهُ مَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَكِنْ يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ} .
