Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

He was also asked—may Allah be pleased with him:

Does removing a splint after ablution invalidate ablution or not?

He replied:

All praise is due to Allah. There is disagreement on this matter. The stronger view is that it does not invalidate ablution, just as it does not require one to repeat the ritual bath, because the splint is like a part of the limb. Allah knows best.

He was also asked about wiping over a head wrap.

He replied:

All praise is due to Allah. If a woman fears harm from the cold or the like, she may wipe over her head covering, for Umm Salama used to wipe over her head covering. She should also wipe some of her hair. If, however, she has no need to do so, the scholars differ regarding this.
