Whoever examines their lives with knowledge and insight, and considers the virtues Allah bestowed upon them, knows with certainty that they are the best of creation after the prophets: none like them have existed or will ever exist. They are the finest of the generations of this community, which is the best of all communities and the most honored by Allah Most High.

Among the fundamental principles of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamā‘ah is belief in the miraculous gifts granted to Allah’s righteous friends and the extraordinary things Allah brings about through them: various forms of knowledge and disclosures of hidden matters, and various kinds of power and effects. Such things are related of earlier nations in Surah al-Kahf and elsewhere, and of the earliest members of this community—the Companions and the Successors—and all its subsequent generations. They will continue to occur within this community until the Day of Resurrection.
