And it is well known that these basins hold many times that amount. If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his wives purified themselves using those vessels, how much more readily may one purify oneself using these basins?
The second point:
It is permissible to purify oneself using these basins, whether they are overflowing or not, whether a pipe is supplying them with water or not, and whether the water in them is distinct or not. They are pure, and the presumption is that they remain pure. In every case, they contain more water than those small vessels from which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions purified themselves, which neither overflowed nor received a supply of water through a pipe or otherwise.
Anyone who waits for the basin to overflow, bathes only when alone, and regards this as part of religion is an innovator who contravenes Islamic law. He deserves a discretionary punishment that deters him and others like him from introducing into religion what Allah has not authorized and from worshipping Allah on the basis of false beliefs and through acts that are neither obligatory nor recommended.
The third point:
Moderation in pouring water. It is authentically established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
“Would perform ablution with one mudd and bathe with one sā‘.”
