intercession, but by His grace and mercy. Space will remain in Paradise beyond what is occupied by those who enter it from this world, so Allah will create people for it and admit them to Paradise.

The various matters pertaining to the Hereafter—reckoning, reward, punishment, Paradise and Hell—and their details are described in the books revealed from heaven and in the knowledge transmitted from the prophets. The knowledge inherited from Muhammad concerning these matters is both satisfying and sufficient; whoever seeks it will find it.

The saved group—the people of the Sunnah and the community—believes in divine decree, both its good and its evil. Belief in divine decree has two levels, each comprising two elements.

The first level is to believe that Allah Most High knew all that His creatures would do through His eternal knowledge, which has been His attribute without beginning. He knew all their circumstances: their acts of obedience and disobedience, their provision and their lifespans. Then Allah recorded the decrees concerning His creatures in the Preserved Tablet:

“When Allah first created the Pen, He said to it, ‘Write.’ It said, ‘What shall I write?’ He said, ‘Write all that will happen until the Day of Resurrection.’ Whatever befalls a person could never have missed him, and whatever misses him could never have befallen him. The pens have dried and the scrolls have been folded.”

As He, glorified and exalted, says:

“Do you not know that Allah knows what is in heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record. Indeed, that is easy for Allah.”
