Belief in the Last Day includes believing in everything the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, reported concerning what happens after death. Thus, they believe in the trial of the grave, its punishment, and its bliss. As for the trial, people will be tested in their graves. A person will be asked:

“‘Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your prophet?’ Allah will keep those who believe firm with the firm word, in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. The believer will say, ‘Allah is my Lord, Islam is my religion, and Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is my prophet.’ But the doubter will say, ‘Ah, ah! I do not know. I heard people saying something, so I repeated it.’ He will then be struck with an iron sledgehammer and let out a cry that everything except human beings will hear. If a human being heard it, he would collapse.”

After this trial, there will be either bliss or punishment until the Great Resurrection takes place. Souls will then be restored to their bodies, and the Resurrection will occur—the Resurrection that Allah has foretold in His Book and through His Messenger, and upon which the Muslims are unanimously agreed. People will rise from their graves before the Lord of all worlds, barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. The sun will draw near to them, and their sweat will reach their mouths. The scales will be set up, and the deeds of Allah’s servants will be weighed in them:

“So those whose scales are heavy—it is they
