Majmu' al-FatawaIbn Taimiya

Another is His saying:

“Fear Allah and be with the truthful.”

Another is the saying of Allah’s intimate friend:

“My Lord, grant me sound judgment and join me with the righteous.”

And Joseph’s saying:

“Let me die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous.”

Another is His saying:

“The first forerunners among the Emigrants and the Helpers, and those who followed them in righteousness—Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him.”

Divine pleasure is incompatible with their unanimously agreeing upon and persisting in a sin or error, for that would call for pardon instead.

Another is His saying:

“Then We gave the Book as an inheritance to those of Our servants whom We chose.”

And His saying:

“And peace be upon His servants whom He has chosen.”

This provides evidence in two respects. First, choosing implies purification, which is incompatible with unanimously agreeing upon and persisting in sin and error. Second, the greeting of peace upon them implies their freedom from flaws, just as He pronounced peace upon the messengers, upon Noah, and upon the Messiah.

Another is His saying:

“Indeed, the allies of Allah will have no fear, nor will they grieve.”

Another is His saying:

“Then Allah, by His permission, guided those who believed to the truth concerning which they differed.”

This indicates that His guidance extends to every matter. And His saying:

“Allah is the Protector of those who believe; He brings them out of darkness into light.”

This implies that He brings them out of every darkness.
