One of the judges of Wāsit asked Shaykh al-Islām—may Allah have mercy on him—to write a creed that he and his household could rely upon.

He replied:

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

All praise is due to Allah, who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all religion. Sufficient is Allah as a witness.

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, with no partner, acknowledging Him and affirming His oneness. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah bless him, his family, and his Companions, and grant them ever-abundant peace.
