61- Abu Bakr ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad narrated to us (1); he said (2): Abu Bakr al-Ṭarīthīthī informed us (3); Abu al-Qasim al-Tabari informed us (4); ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Jaʿfar informed us; ʿAbd al-Ghāfir ibn Salāmah narrated to us; Abu Thawban Mirdad ibn Jamil narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Ibrahim al-Jaddi informed us (5); Shuʿbah reported from Abu Ishaq al-Hamdani, from Abu ʿUbaydah, from ʿAbd Allah, who said: “Show mercy to those on earth, and the One in heaven will show mercy to you.” (6)
62- Abu Bakr ibn al-Nuqūr informed us—he said (7): Abu Bakr al-Ṭarīthīthī informed us; he said (8): Abu al-Qasim narrated to us (9); al-Hasan ibn ʿUthman informed us; ʿAli ibn Muhammad ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us.

(6) This hadith was previously cited as marfuʿ (raised to the Prophet) under number (8). Al-Lalkaʾī records it as mawqūf (stopped at the Companion) in his Sharḥ Uṣūl Iʿtiqād Ahl al-Sunnah, hadith no. 657 (2/395). In Al-ʿUlu (p.20), al-Ḏhahabī notes that ‘Ammār ibn Zurayq transmitted it from Abū Isḥāq as marfuʿ, but the mawqūf version is more authentic, even though Abū ʿUbayda’s transmission from his father is muʾanṣar (omitting a link).
