(2) In (h) “Abu ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Ḥusayn” is erroneous; he was al-Ḥusayn, and Abu ʿAbd Allah is his kunya. See his biography in Siyar Aʿlam al-Nubala, vol. 17, p. 265.

(4) In all the manuscripts “al-Juhaymi” is a mistake. The correct nisbah, supported by other hadith sources and by al-Tahdhib, is al-Hujaymi—pronounced with a fatḥa on the hāʾ, a fatḥa on the jīm, and a sukun on the yāʾ. This refers to the locality in Basra settled by Banū al-Hujaym ibn ʿAmr ibn Ṭamīm ibn Mar ibn ʿAd (a clan of Tamīm), from which the place takes its name. Many also use it as a tribal or geographical nisbah (al-Libab, vol. 3, p. 382). Al-Tahdhib records: “ʿUbayda (with a fatḥa) Abu Khadash al-Hujaymi al-Basri from Abu Jari al-Hujaymi reported the hadith ‘Do not belittle any good deed.’” It is also narrated from Abu Tumayma from Abu Jari (al-Tahdhib, vol. 7, p. 86).

(٤) في جميع النسخ "الجهيمي" وهو خطأ. والتصحيح من مصادر الحديث الأخرى. ومن التهذيب. والهجيمي: بضم الهاء، وفتح الجيم، وسكون الياء -هذه النسبة إلى محلة بالبصرة، نزلها بنو الهجيم بن عمرو بن تميم بن مر بن أد، بطن من تميم، فنسبت المحلة إليهم ... وجماعة كثيرة ينسبون إلى القبيلة والمحلة. اللباب ٣/٣٨٢.
قال في التهذيب: عبيدة -بفتح العين- أبو خداش الهجيمي البصري، عن أبي جري الهجيمي حديث لا تحقرن من المعروف شيئا.
