The Obligation of Mutual Love and Loyalty
It is likewise a duty upon the scholars—whatever their specialisations—and, by extension, upon the rest of the Muslim community, to embody the words of their Prophet ﷺ: “The believers, in the mutual affection and mercy they show one another, are like a single body…” ⦗recorded in al-Silsilah al-Ṣaḥīḥah, 1083⦘.
This magnificent prophetic simile, with its lofty and beautiful meaning, cannot be brought to life unless the scholars work together with the members of society—teaching and learning, calling to Islam and putting it into practice.
Accordingly, those who have mastered the fiqh of the Sharīʿah, with its proofs and rulings, must cooperate with those who possess a correct, practical (not merely theoretical) Fiqh al-Wāqiʿ. The first group furnishes the second with its knowledge and juridical insight, while the second alerts the first to what it has uncovered, so that both may take heed and warn others.
Through such genuine collaboration among scholars and callers to Islam, each within his own field, the aspiration cherished by every zealous Muslim can, by Allah’s leave, be realised.
