Among the mistakes made by some “preachers” is the following:

For that reason, I maintain that giving disproportionate attention to “understanding contemporary realities” to the extent that it becomes the very curriculum upon which preachers and young people are trained—and with which they in turn train others—while imagining it to be the road to salvation, is a patent and obvious error.

On a point over which not even two jurists would differ—indeed, over which not even two goats would butt heads—the basic cause of the humiliation that has taken up residence among the Muslims is:

First: the Muslims’ ignorance of the Islam that Allah revealed to the heart of our Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him.

Second: the fact that many Muslims who do know some of Islam’s rulings regarding certain matters fail to act upon them.
