ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Mubārak said: “When you are put to the trial of issuing judgements, cling to the athar (transmitted reports).”

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ:
(إِذَا ابْتُلِيتَ بِالْقَضَاءِ فعليك بالأثر)
