347 – (ḥasan)

It is narrated from Yazīd al-Fārisī—who used to copy the Qur’an—that he said:

“I saw the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream during the lifetime of Ibn ʿAbbās. I therefore told Ibn ʿAbbās, ‘I have seen the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in my sleep.’ Ibn ʿAbbās replied, ‘The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: “Satan is unable to imitate me, so whoever sees me in his sleep has truly seen me.” Can you describe the man you saw in your dream?’

I said, ‘Yes. I will describe him for you: he was a man of moderate stature; his build and complexion were light brown inclining toward fairness; his eyes were dark-lined; he had a pleasant smile; the contours of his face were handsome, and they had completely filled⦗208⦘’
