Ibn ʿAbbās reported:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to let his hair fall freely, while the idolaters parted theirs and the People of the Book let theirs hang down. He liked to follow the practice of the People of the Book in matters for which he had received no specific command. Later on, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ parted his own hair.”
