She also related: “A man asked permission to see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was with him. The Prophet said, ‘What a wretched son of his clan—or brother of his clan!’ He then admitted the man, and when he entered the Prophet addressed him gently. After he left I said, ‘Messenger of Allah, you said what you said, yet you spoke to him so kindly.’ He replied, ‘O ʿAishah, among the worst of people are those whom others avoid—or leave alone—out of fear of their obscene conduct.’”
