Kharijah ibn Zayd ibn Thabit reported:
“A group of men came to Zayd ibn Thabit and said, ‘Tell us the reports of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.’ He replied, ‘What shall I narrate to you? I was his neighbor. Whenever revelation came down to him, he would send for me and I would write it down for him. Thus, when we spoke about worldly matters, he spoke about them with us; when we spoke about the Hereafter, he spoke about it with us; and when we spoke about food, he spoke about it with us. All of this I relate to you from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.’⦗180⦘

عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ:
(دَخَلَ نَفَرٌ عَلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ فَقَالُوا لَهُ: حَدِّثْنَا أحاديث رسول الله ﷺ َ. قَالَ: مَاذَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ؟
كُنْتُ جَارَهُ فَكَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ فَكَتَبْتُهُ لَهُ فَكُنَّا إِذَا ذَكَرْنَا الدُّنْيَا ذَكَرَهَا مَعَنَا وَإِذَا ذَكَرْنَا الْآخِرَةَ ذَكَرَهَا مَعَنَا وَإِذَا ذَكَرْنَا الطَّعَامَ ذَكَرَهُ مَعَنَا فَكُلُّ هَذَا أُحَدِّثُكُمْ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ َ)
