So I went back, faced him and said, “May Allah forgive you, O Messenger of Allah.” He replied, “And you as well.”

The people exclaimed, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has sought forgiveness for you!” He answered, “Yes—and for you too.”

He then recited the verse, “So seek forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women.”
