252 – Sound (Ṣaḥīḥ)

ʿAbd Allah ibn Shuqayq reported: I once asked ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—about the Messenger of Allah’s (peace and blessings be upon him) practice of fasting. She said:

“He would fast so much that we would say, ‘He is going to keep on fasting,’ and then he would refrain from fasting so long that we would say, ‘He has decided not to fast anymore.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never observed a full month of fasting after he arrived in Medina except for Ramadan.”
