ʿAbd Allah ibn Shuqayq reported: I asked ʿĀʾishah—may Allah be pleased with her—about the Messenger of Allah’s ﷺ voluntary prayers. She replied:
“He would spend a long part of the night praying while standing and a long part while seated. If he recited the Qur’an standing, he would bow and prostrate from that standing position; and if he recited while seated, he would bow and prostrate from that seated position.”
