228 – (Authentic)
Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani said: “I resolved to watch the Prophet’s prayer, so I lay down at his doorstep—or by the entrance of his tent—and observed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ first prayed two light rakʿahs (units of prayer), then two rakʿahs that were exceedingly long—long, long, long. After that he prayed another two, shorter than the previous pair; then another two, shorter still; then another two, shorter than those; and yet another two, each shorter than the pair before it. Finally, he performed witr, making a total of thirteen rakʿahs.”}

عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
(لَأَرْمُقَنَّ صلاة النبي ﷺ َ فَتَوَسَّدْتُ عَتَبَتَهُ أَوْ فُسْطَاطَهُ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ َ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُمَا دَونَ اللَّتَيْنِ قَبْلَهُمَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُمَا دُونَ اللَّتَيْنِ قَبْلَهُمَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُمَا دُونَ اللَّتَيْنِ قَبْلَهُمَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُمَا دُونَ اللَّتَيْنِ قَبْلَهُمَا ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ فَذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً)
