Mukhtaṣar al-ShamāʾilAl-Tirmidhi

223 – (Sound)
Al-Aswad ibn Yazīd reported:
“I asked ʿĀʾishah, may Allah be pleased with her, about the Messenger of Allah’s night prayer. She said:
‘He would sleep during the first part of the night, then rise to pray. When the time of saḥar (the pre-dawn portion of the night) arrived, he would perform witr, then return to his bed. If he felt a need, he would be intimate with his family. When he heard the adhān he would spring up; if he was in a state of janābah (major ritual impurity) he would wash his whole body, otherwise he would make wuḍū’ and go out to the prayer.’⦗145⦘
