ʿĀʾishah reported:
(authentic) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to place a pulpit in the mosque for Ḥassān ibn Thābit. He would stand on it to recite poetry, vaunting or—she said—defending the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet would also say:
“Allah, the Exalted, continues to aid Ḥassān with the Holy Spirit so long as he defends—or vaunts on behalf of—the Messenger of Allah.” ⦗133⦘
