Salma reported that al-Hasan ibn ʿAli, Ibn ʿAbbas, and Ibn Jaʿfar came to her and said, “Prepare for us a dish the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to like and eat with relish.” She replied, “My dear son, you will not crave it today.” He said, “Indeed—make it for us.” So she stood up, took some barley and ground it, placed it in a pot, poured a little oil over it, crushed pepper and other spices, then served it to them, saying, “This is one of the foods the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enjoy and eat heartily.”

عن سَلْمَى أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ أَتَوْهَا فَقَالُوا لَهَا: اصْنَعِي لَنَا طَعَامًا مِمَّا كَانَ يُعْجِبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ َ وَيُحْسِنُ أَكْلَهُ فَقَالَتْ: يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ: بَلَى اصْنَعِيهِ لَنَا. قَالَ: فَقَامَتْ فَأَخَذَتْ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَطَحَنَتْهُ ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْهُ فِي قِدْرٍ وَصَبَّتْ عَلَيْهِ شَيْئًا مِنْ زَيْتٍ وَدَقَّتِ الْفُلْفُلَ وَالتَّوَابِلَ فَقَرَّبَتْهُ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَتْ: (هَذَا مِمَّا كَانَ يعجب رسول الله ﷺ َ ويحسن أكله)
