Abu Talha reported: “We complained to the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, about hunger, and each of us revealed a stone he had tied to his stomach; then the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace, revealed two stones fastened to his own stomach.”
Abu ʿĪsā said: “This is a singular report from Abu Talha; we know it only through this route. His words ‘each of us revealed a stone from his stomach’ mean that a person would bind a stone to his abdomen because of the hardship and weakness brought on by hunger.” [78]
