and his reciting the pilgrimage invocation aloud (4/60). It was likewise recorded by ʿAbd al-Razzāq (20842), al-Dānī (144/1), and Ibn Mandah (41/2).
A sixth chain from him traces the following wording back to the Prophet:
“There is no prophet between me and him (meaning Jesus), and he will surely descend. So recognize him when you see him: a man of medium stature, with a fair, ruddy complexion, wearing two pale-yellow garments. His head will look as though it is dripping, even though no moisture has touched it. He will fight people for the cause of Islam, shatter the cross, kill the swine, and abolish the poll tax. Allah will cause every religion except Islam to perish in his time, and [Allah, in his time,] will destroy the [lying] Messiah, the Dajjāl. [Security will prevail on earth, so that lions roam freely with camels, leopards with cattle, and wolves with sheep; children will play with snakes without being harmed by them.] He will remain on earth for forty years, then die, and the Muslims will offer the funeral prayer for him [and bury him].”
Recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/214), whose wording is given here; Ibn Hibbān (1902 and 1903); Ahmad (2/406 and 437); Ibn Jarīr in his Quran commentary (no. 7145); al-Ājurrī (p. 380); and ʿAbd al-Razzāq (20845), who adds:
“And there will be a single call, to the Lord of all worlds.”
