The third is from Mihjan ibn al-Adraʿ, who related that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed the people, saying:
“The Day of Deliverance—and what is the Day of Deliverance? The Day of Deliverance—and what is the Day of Deliverance? A day of deliverance—and what is the Day of Deliverance?” (Three times.) He was asked, “What is the Day of Deliverance?” He replied:
“The Dajjāl will come and climb Mount Uhud. Looking towards Medina, he will say to his companions: ‘Do you see this white palace? This is Ahmad’s mosque.’ Then he will approach Medina and find an angel with his sword drawn at each of its passes. He will then come to the salt flat of al-Jurf and pitch his tent. Then Medina will be shaken by three tremors, and every hypocrite and evildoer, male or female, will go out to him. That will be the Day of Deliverance.”
Recorded by Ahmad (4/338), Hanbal (46/2–47/1) and al-Hākim (4/427 and 543), who said:
“Sound according to Muslim’s criteria.” Al-Dhahabī agreed.
It is as they said, provided there is no break in the chain between ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq and Mihjan. For Rajāʾ ibn Abī Rajāʾ al-Bāhilī appears between them in a version recorded by Ahmad and Hanbal (46/1). Its chain of transmission is sounder than that of the first version; in any case, however, it is acceptable as corroborating evidence.
The fourth is from Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, looked out over a cleft in the lava field while we were with him, and said:
“What an excellent land Medina is! When the Dajjāl emerges, there will be an angel at each of its passes
