their hearts with your mention of the Dajjāl.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“[You have nothing to fear.] If he emerges while I am among you, I will contend with him. But if I die, Allah will watch over every believer in my stead.”

[She said: I asked, “Will our hearts still be as they are now on that day, O Messenger of Allah?”

He said, “Yes, or better. The fruits and food of the lands will be brought to him.”

She said: “By Allah, my family prepare their dough, and before it is ready I fear that hunger may lead me astray.] What will sustain the believers on that day?”

He said, “What sustains the inhabitants of heaven will sustain them.”

[She said: “O Prophet of Allah, we know that the angels neither eat nor drink.”

He said, “But they glorify and sanctify Him, and that will be the believers’ food and drink on that day]—glorifying and sanctifying Him. [Let whoever attends this gathering of mine and hears my words convey them to those who are absent. Know that Allah is free of defect and is not one-eyed, whereas the Dajjāl is one-eyed, with one eye effaced. Between his eyes is written ‘Disbeliever,’ which every believer will read, whether he can write or not.]”

Related by ʿAbd al-Razzāq in al-Musannaf (11/391/20821), al-Tayālisī (2/217/2775), Ahmad (6/453, 454 and 455), Hanbal ibn Ishāq al-Shaybānī in al-Fitan (fols. 45/1–2 and 46/1), and Ibn ʿAsākir in al-Tārīkh (1/616–617). Its concluding portion was also related by ʿAbd Allāh in al-Sunnah (141), as well as Abū ʿAmr al-Dānī in al-Fitan (126/1)—all through various chains from Shahr.
