“By Allah, the Hour will not come until thirty lying impostors have appeared, the last of them being the one-eyed Dajjāl…”
The hadith continues. There is weakness in its chain.
9 – This passage—apart from the mention of his second claim—occurs in several hadiths:
The first: ʿUmar ibn Thābit al-Ansārī reported that some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, informed him that, when warning people about the Dajjāl, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“‘Disbeliever’ is written between his eyes; whoever detests his deeds will read it—or every believer will read it.”
He also said:
“Know that none of you will see his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, until he dies.”
It was recorded by Muslim (8/193), ʿAbd al-Razzāq in al-Musannaf (20820) and, through him, al-Tirmidhī (2236), who graded it authentic; likewise by Ahmad (5/433) and al-Dānī (129/1–2), without the words:
“Or every believer will read it.”
The second: ʿUbādah ibn al-Sāmit reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“I have told you so much about the Dajjāl that I feared you might not understand. The False Messiah is a short, bow-legged, dark-eyed man with an obliterated eye that is neither protruding nor hard as stone. If you are uncertain about him, know that your Lord, Mighty and Majestic, is not one-eyed, and that you will not see your Lord until you die.”
