The passage concerning his fit of anger was also recorded by Muslim (8/194), Ibn Hibbān (6755), and Ahmad (6/284).
5 – There are many corroborating reports for this passage; I will cite those I can:
The first: Al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān said:
One morning, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) spoke of the Dajjāl with varying emphasis, until we thought he was among the palm trees. He said:
“There are things I fear for you more than the Dajjāl. If he emerges while I am among you, I will contend with him on your behalf. But if he emerges when I am not among you, each person must contend with him for himself, and Allah will watch over every Muslim in my stead.
“He is a young man with tightly curled hair, and one of his eyes is sightless. I would liken him to ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā ibn Qatan.
“Whoever among you encounters him should recite to him the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf [for they are your protection against his trial].
“He will emerge from a place between the Levant and Iraq and wreak havoc to the right and to the left. O servants of Allah, stand firm!”
We said, “Messenger of Allah, how long will he remain on earth?”
He said, “Forty days: one day like a year, one day like a month, and one day like a week; the rest of his days will be like your days.”
We said, “Messenger of Allah, on that day which is like a year, will the prayers of a single day suffice for us?”
