Qissat al-Masih al-DajjalNasir al-Din al-Albani

Jesus, peace be upon him, from heaven; these scholars include the hadith master Ibn Kathīr (1), Ibn Hajar, and others. Indeed, Imam al-Shawkānī wrote a treatise entitled “Clarifying the Mass-Transmitted Reports Concerning the Awaited One, the Mahdī, and the Messiah.”

I personally became certain that the hadiths concerning the Dajjāl and Jesus were mass-transmitted when I wrote the treatise mentioned above. By then, I had gathered more than forty chains of transmission from approximately forty Companions. Some met the criteria for authenticity, while most of the corroborating reports for the remainder were acceptable as supporting evidence. Unfortunately, after moving from one house to another, I no longer know where that material is!

My certainty was subsequently reaffirmed through my study of the hadith of Abū Umāmah, a study referred to in this introduction.

The following are the names of the Companions who narrated hadiths concerning the Dajjāl and whose reports I have traced to their sources in this study—bearing in mind that it does not cover every report on the subject, since an exhaustive treatment would not have suited its scope:

1 - Hishām ibn ʿĀmir.
2 - ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mughaffal.
3 - Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān.
4 - Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh.
