And so I have resolved to compile, from all that has been established in these hadiths, a treatise recounting the story of the False Messiah (the Dajjāl), the descent of Jesus (peace be upon him), and his slaying of the Dajjāl. I will follow the structure of this hadith of Abū Umāmah, omitting any passage for which I have found no corroborating report and inserting each passage from the other hadiths in its appropriate place.
