I say: All the narrators in its chain are trustworthy except for the unnamed man, who is one of the senior Successors, if not a Companion. For this Zayd is a Successor who narrated from a number of Companions, including Abū Hurayrah himself, Ibn ʿUmar and others.
Even if this report is attributed only to a Companion, it has the status of a report traced back to the Prophet, because it concerns matters of the unseen that cannot be stated on the basis of personal opinion alone—especially since most of its contents have been reported from the Prophet, as mentioned earlier.
The sentence about the pomegranate in this passage is corroborated by the hadith of al-Nawwās, whose sources were given earlier (pp. 56–58), although it was not quoted in full and the corroborating passage was omitted.
46 and 47 - I have found no corroborating report at all for either of these.
48 - This is corroborated by the previously cited hadith of Asmāʾ bint Yazīd al-Ansāriyyah (pp. 57–76).
49 - This is corroborated by four hadiths:
First: The hadith of Asmāʾ just mentioned.
Second: The previously cited hadith of ʿĀʾishah (pp. 93–94).
Third: The hadith of Ibn ʿUmar:
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked about the food of the believers during the time of the Dajjāl. He replied, “The food of the angels.”
They asked, “What is the food of the angels?”
He replied, “Their food is the words they utter in glorification of Allah and proclamation of His holiness. Allah will take away the hunger of whoever utters such words on that day, so that he will have no fear of hunger.”
