The fifth: Hudhayfah ibn al-Yamān (p. 105).
35 - I have found no supporting report for this passage.
36 - There are several hadiths concerning this passage:
The first: From Mujammiʿ ibn Jāriyah al-Ansārī, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say:
“The son of Mary will kill the Dajjāl at the gate of Ludd.”
It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2245), Ibn Hibbān (1901), al-Tayālisī (2/219), ʿAbd al-Razzāq (20835), Ahmad (3/420), and al-Dānī (143/1 and 2). Al-Tirmidhī said:
“A good and authentic hadith.”
I say: Perhaps he meant that it is so because of the supporting reports that follow; otherwise, its chain of transmission includes ʿUbayd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Thaʿlabah al-Ansārī, an unknown narrator about whom nothing is known, and whose name is variously reported.
The second: From al-Nawwās ibn Samʿān, traced back to the Prophet, with the same wording. His hadith has already been cited (pp. 56–58).
The third: From ʿĀ’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, traced back to the Prophet, with similar wording. Her hadith has already been cited (pp. 59–60).
ʿAbd al-Razzāq (20836) also narrated, with an authentic chain of transmission, that ʿUmar asked a Jewish man about something. The man answered him, and ʿUmar accepted his account as true. ʿUmar then said to him, “I have tested your truthfulness, so tell me about the Dajjāl.” He replied, “By the God of the Jews, the son of Mary will surely kill him on the outskirts of (Ludd).”
