Ziyārat al-QubūrIbn Taimiya

He, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, also said:

“By the One in Whose hand is my soul, none of you truly believes until I am dearer to him than his child, his father, and all people.”

ʿUmar, may Allah be pleased with him, once said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, you are dearer to me than everything except my own self.” He replied,

“No, O ʿUmar, not until I am dearer to you than your own self.”

So ʿUmar said, “Then, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self.”

The Prophet answered, “Now, O ʿUmar.”
