so avoid it. Whatever you know people condemn in public, do not engage in it in private.
Justice in Judgment
If either of you should be placed by Allah in charge of a community through judicial office or the issuing of fatwas, let him strive to uphold justice to the utmost of his ability and avoid injustice and treachery. For an unjust judge sets himself against Allah’s judgment, misrepresents His message, alters His law, and defies Him in his dealings with His creation. Allah Most High says, “Whoever does not judge according to what Allah has revealed—it is they who are the defiantly disobedient.” Al-Mā’idah 47.
It has been narrated that all creatures are Allah’s dependents and that the creatures dearest to Allah are those who care best for His dependents. It has also been narrated: “No man is entrusted with subjects and then fails to care for them sincerely without Allah Most High forbidding Paradise to him.”
Beware of False Testimony
Beware of false testimony, for it breaks the back of the one who gives it, corrupts the religious integrity of the one who bears it, and leaves him with lasting infamy. The first person to despise him and carry tales about him will be the one on whose behalf he testified.
The Prohibition against Bribery
Beware of bribery, for it blinds the eye of the discerning and lowers the standing of the eminent.
Singing Breeds Temptation in the Heart
Beware of songs, for singing causes temptation to grow in the heart and gives rise to evil thoughts within the soul.
