Section on Coercion and Related Matters
Allah, glorified be He, has commanded us to uphold what is right: obedience to Him and His Messenger, which encompasses righteousness, good deeds, goodness, and piety. He has forbidden what is wrong: disobedience to Him and His Messenger, which encompasses corruption, evil deeds, evil, and wickedness. He has made obligations conditional upon ability and capacity, and has permitted a person to partake of what He has forbidden when compelled by necessity, provided that person neither transgresses nor exceeds the bounds.
