from what We have provided for you before death comes to one of you and he says, ‘My Lord, if only You would grant me a brief respite, I would give charity and be among the righteous.’”
Surah al-Munāfiqūn, 10
In these matters of knowledge and theological discourse, anyone speaking about them must ensure that what he reports concerning Allah, the Last Day, and past and future events is true and correct, and that what he commands and forbids accords with what the messengers brought from Allah. This is what is correct, in conformity with the Sunnah and the Sharia, and in keeping with the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger. Likewise, the acts of worship that people perform are true and correct, and accord with what Allah sent His messengers with, when they are among those Allah has prescribed and Allah and His Messenger have commanded.
Whatever fails to meet this standard in either category is falsehood, misguiding innovation, and ignorance—even if some call it knowledge, rational understanding, worship, spiritual striving, spiritual experiences, or spiritual stations.
