And since commanding and forbidding are inseparable from human existence, whoever does not enjoin the good that Allah and His Messenger have commanded and forbid the evil that Allah and His Messenger have prohibited—and is not himself enjoined to do the good that Allah and His Messenger have commanded and forbidden to commit the evil that Allah and His Messenger have prohibited—will inevitably command and forbid, and be commanded and forbidden, either in ways that oppose this or in ways that mix the truth Allah has revealed with falsehood He has not revealed. If this is adopted as a religion, it becomes an innovated, misguided and false religion.

Likewise, every human being is alive and moves by his own will, continually forming intentions and acting. If his intention is not good and his deed is not righteous and done for Allah’s sake, then his deed will be corrupt or done for something other than Allah’s sake—and that is vain. As Allah Most High says:

“Indeed, your efforts are diverse.”
