of Our mercy to man, then withdraw it from him, he becomes despairing and ungrateful. And if We give him a taste of prosperity after adversity has touched him, he will surely say, ‘My troubles have gone away.’ Indeed, he is exultant and boastful—except those who are patient and do righteous deeds; they will have forgiveness and a great reward.” (Sūrat Hūd, 9–11)
And He said:

It was in these terms that Kaʿb ibn Zuhayr described those Companions among the Emigrants whom he praised, saying:
They do not exult when their spears strike many,
Nor despair when they themselves are struck.
Likewise, Hassān ibn Thābit said in describing the Ansār:
They do not boast when they strike their enemy,
Nor weaken or panic when they themselves are struck.
