Surah Āl ʿImrān, 155
And Allah Most High said:
“Why, when a calamity befell you, although you had inflicted twice as much, did you say, ‘How has this happened?’ Say, ‘It is from your own selves.’”
Surah Āl ʿImrān, 165
And He said:
“Or He could destroy them because of what they have earned, yet He pardons much.”
Surah al-Shūrā, 34
And He said:
“But if an evil befalls them because of what their hands have sent forth, then surely man is ungrateful.”
Surah al-Shūrā, 48
And Allah Most High said:
“Allah would not punish them while you are among them, nor would Allah punish them while they seek forgiveness.”
Surah al-Anfāl, 33
Allah, glorified be He, has told us how He punished the evildoers among past nations in this world—the people of Noah, ʿĀd, Thamūd, the people of Lot, the inhabitants of Midian, and Pharaoh’s people—and has told us how He will punish them in the Hereafter.
For this reason, the believer from Pharaoh’s household said:
“O my people, I fear for you a day like that of the former peoples, like the fate of the people of Noah, ʿĀd, Thamūd, and those who came after them. Allah wills no injustice for His servants. O my people, I fear for you the Day of Calling, the Day you will turn and flee, with no one to protect you from Allah. Whoever Allah leaves astray will have no guide.”
Surah Ghāfir, 30–33
