Al-IstiqamaIbn Taimiya

And He says:

“Those who avoid major sins and immoral deeds, except for minor lapses—surely your Lord is vast in forgiveness.”
Surah al-Najm 53:32

Ibn ‘Abbās said, “I have seen nothing more akin to minor lapses than what Abū Hurayrah reported from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace: ‘The eyes commit adultery, and their adultery is looking.’” He then related the rest of the hadith.

A Muslim does not become a disbeliever by committing an immoral deed, even though he has lost the obligatory completeness of faith. As reported in the two Sahih collections, the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer; nor does the thief steal while he is a believer; nor does he drink wine when he drinks it
