their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will abide forever. How excellent is the reward of those who do good!”
Surah Āl ‘Imrān 3:135–136
Allah Most High also says:
“Whoever does evil or wrongs himself, then seeks Allah’s forgiveness, will find Allah All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
Surah al-Nisā’ 4:110
And He says:
“Establish prayer at both ends of the day and in the early hours of the night. Surely good deeds erase evil deeds.”
Surah Hūd 11:114
In the two Sahih collections, Ibn Mas‘ūd reports that a man kissed a woman, then came to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and told him about it. The following verse was then revealed to him:
“Establish prayer at both ends of the day and in the early hours of the night. Surely good deeds erase evil deeds.”
Surah Hūd 11:114
The man asked, “Is this verse for me?” He replied, “It is for whoever among my nation acts upon it.”
Allah Most High has also said:
“And those who avoid major sins and immoral deeds, and who forgive when they are angry.”
Surah al-Shūrā 42:37
