that the devils are allies of those who do not believe in the guidance of Allah with which He sent His messengers.
As He said:
“And whoever turns away from the remembrance of the Most Merciful, We appoint for him a devil to be his companion. Indeed, the devils turn them away from the path, while they think they are rightly guided. Until, when he comes to Us, he says, ‘Would that between me and you were the distance between the east and west!’ What an evil companion!” (Sūrat al-Zukhruf, 36–38)
Likewise, Satan said:
“By Your might, I will surely mislead them all, except Your chosen servants among them.” (Sūrat Sād, 82–83)
He said:
“This is a straight path to Me. Indeed, you will have no authority over My servants, except those of the misguided who follow you.” (Sūrat al-Hijr, 41–42)
And He said:
“Indeed, he has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who associate partners with Allah.” (Sūrat al-Nahl, 99–100)
And He said:
“Indeed, the devils inspire their allies to dispute with you. If you obey them, you will surely be polytheists.” (Sūrat al-An‘ām, 121)
Then He spoke of Satan’s allies who do not believe, saying:
“When they commit an indecency, they say, ‘We found our fathers doing this, and Allah has commanded us to do it.’ Say, ‘Indeed, Allah does not command indecency. Do you say about Allah what you do not know?’” (Sūrat
