As for the second view, he said: “Some people say that jealousy is an attribute of beginners, and that one who affirms Allah’s oneness does not witness jealousy or exercise choice, nor does he presume to dictate what takes place in the dominion. Rather, the Truth, glory be to Him, has the greater claim over all things in whatever He decrees and however He decrees it.”
He said: “I heard Shaykh Abū ʿAbd al-Rahmān al-Sulamī, may Allah have mercy on him, say: ‘I heard Abū ʿUthmān al-Maghribī say: “Jealousy belongs to the practice of spiritual aspirants, not to those who have attained spiritual realities.”’”
He said: “I heard him say: ‘I heard Abū Nasr al-Asbahānī say: “I heard al-Shiblī say: ‘Jealousy is of two kinds: human jealousy over souls, and divine jealousy over hearts.’”’”
I say: As for denying jealousy altogether and treating it as a practice confined to spiritual aspirants, this resembles the view of someone who witnesses Allah’s oneness in lordship and that Allah is the Creator and Lord of all things
