And He Most High says:

“Thus Pharaoh’s evil deeds were made attractive to him, and he was barred from the way. Pharaoh’s scheming led only to ruin.”
[Surah Ghāfir 37]

And He says:

“Thus We have made every community’s deeds attractive to them. Then to their Lord they will return, and He will inform them of what they used to do.”
[Surah al-Anʿām 108]

And He Most High says:

“And when Satan made their deeds attractive to them and said, ‘No one among the people can overcome you today, and I am your protector.’”
[Surah al-Anfāl 48]

He, glorified be He, has said of the believers:

“But Allah has endeared faith to you and made it beautiful in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness, and disobedience hateful to you. Those are the rightly guided.”
[Surah al-Hujurāt 7]

Thus He, glorified be He, makes each person’s deeds attractive to him, so that he regards them as good, even if they are evil. Were he not to regard a deed as good, he would not do it; if he regarded it as evil, he would neither desire nor choose it. For human beings are innately disposed to love what is good and hate what is evil. What is good and beautiful is loved and desired, while what is evil and ugly is disliked and hated. Things and deeds that are hateful in every respect are never sought, just as those that are loved in every respect are never abandoned. Yet something may be loved in one respect and disliked in another, ugly in one respect and beautiful in another.

This is why the adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer, nor does the thief steal while he is a believer, nor does a person drink wine while he is a believer whose faith is complete. For if his conviction that the deed was evil were complete,
