It is also reported in the Sahīh that he instructed that Khadījah be given glad tidings of a house in Paradise made of pearl, where there would be neither noise nor fatigue.
He, peace and blessings be upon him, also said:
“I have only forbidden two foolish, sinful sounds: a sound at a time of blessing—the sound of amusement and play and Satan’s pipes—and a sound at a time of calamity—slapping cheeks, tearing the fronts of garments, and uttering the cries of the age of ignorance.”
Abū al-Qāsim then said:
The pleasure hearts take in pleasant sounds, their longing for them, and the comfort they find in them cannot be denied. A child is soothed by a pleasant voice, and a camel endures the weariness of travel and the hardship of carrying its load, but the camel-driver’s chanting eases this burden. Allah Most High said:
“Do they not look at the camels—how they were created?”
