saying that he was a man who died by his own weapon.’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘They have spoken falsely. He died striving and fighting in Allah’s cause, and his reward will be doubled.’”
Likewise, an authentic hadith relates that Anjasha the Abyssinian used to chant to urge the camels onward, until the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Gently, Anjasha! Drive gently with the glass vessels.” He meant the women. He instructed him to be gentle with them, lest the camels jolt them when their pace quickened, and lest the camel-driver’s chanting unsettle them.
In the two Sahīh collections, Anas reported:
“The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was on one of his journeys, and a black servant named Anjasha was chanting to urge the camels onward. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Careful, Anjasha! Drive gently with the glass vessels.’”
Abū Qilāba said, “He meant the women.” Both collections also relate a similar report through Thābit, from Anas.
They also relate through Qatāda, from Anas:
“The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had a servant named Anjasha who had a beautiful voice. The Prophet said to him, ‘Gently, Anjasha! Do not break the glass vessels.’”
Qatāda said, “He meant the frail women.”
