as being above.” There is a difference between saying, “Nothing is beneath Him, and nothing is above Him,” and saying, “He is not described as being above, nor is He described as being below.”
As for his statement, “No boundary faces Him, and no ‘beside’ crowds Him,” its apparent meaning is false. It apparently means that none of the created things faces Allah, that no bounded things reach Him, and that none of the created things is with Him. This contradicts the Book, the Sunnah, and the consensus of the early generations of the Muslim community.
For Allah Most High says:
“Indeed, those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They glorify Him, and to Him they prostrate.”
[Surah al-Aʿrāf 206]
And He says:
“To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. Those who are with Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they grow weary.”
[Surah al-Anbiyāʾ 19]
And He says:
“To Him ascends good speech, and righteous deeds raise it.”
[Surah Fātir 10]
And He Most High says:
“O Jesus, I will take you and raise you to Myself.”
[Surah Āl ʿImrān 55]
And He says:
“The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him.”
[Surah al-Maʿārij 4]
